NkówáCattle Creek outstation, Wave Hill.jpg
English: "A black-and-white photograph of Cattle Creek, then an outstation of Wave Hill Station in the Victoria River District of the Northern Territory. The photograph shows living quarters and various outbuildings, and also gives an impression of the flat dry landscape in this part of NT. A water reservoir, possibly for use by cattle, is visible in the foreground." (http://tlf.dlr.det.nsw.edu.au/learningobjects/Content/R11294/object/r7756.htm)
This is an outstation in the historical, original sense of the word as a subsidiary homestead more than a day's travel from the main homestead on a large cattle station. Not to be confused with the Aboriginal outstation movement, where outstations are small independent Aboriginal settlements.
