To increase a wider audience reach and to create a wider space for the enhancement and advancement of free knowledge resources and accessibility, the Igbo Wiki Fan Club, Imo State University is established as one of the tertiary institutions that will serve as a Fan Club base for both the students and staff of the institution, teaching/training them how to become Wikimedians and how to contribute to the various Wikimedia various projects. This fan club is established through the sponsorship of the Igbo Wikimedians User Group.
In celebration of Women's Equality Day which is usually celebrated on August 26 to commemorate the 1920 adoption of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which prohibits the states and the federal government from denying the right to vote to citizens of the United States on the basis of sex, participants will focus on translating Wikipedia articles that align with women empowerment, women activists, women organizations and activities that promotes gender equality.
Objectives
dezie- To create a Wikimedia presence in the Imo State University, Owerri
- To establish a fan club in the institution
- To help and enlighten the students and staff of the institution to become Wikimedians by first creating and registering their usernames
- To help train them to start contributing to the Wikimedia projects.
